Bioluminescence

Luminescence produced by physiological processes of living organisms

Full-cutoff lighting fixtures

Lighting fixtures that do not direct any light above horizontal level

Light pollution

Artificial and excess sky light created by human activities that interferes with astronomical observations and affects the natural environment.

Glare

Intense, blinding lights in one’s line of sight

International Dark-Sky Association (IDA)

An organisation set up by astronomers for educational and scientific purposes to stop the adverse environmental impact on dark skies by building awareness of the problem of light pollution.
